" I am Randy, and I started diving in 2005. Needless to say, it changed my life. As for the last years I felt a bit ‘stuck’ in my diving federation there was not so much more new to learn. November 2018, 13 years of diving and a few hundred dives to count on as experience: it was time for something new, sidemount diving. It was then I had the luck to meet David, when I bought my Xdeep sidemount harness. During an initial chat I decided to do a ‘RAID sidemount essentials’ course with him. Still no clue of what was yet to come… There we are, several months later and never made so much progress with my diving skills. Basically I found out quite fast that I’ve learned the wrong basic skills from the very start of my diving career, and I had built on that eversince. Sudden I realized that instead of doing a ‘quick’ sidemount course, I had to unlearn all my old habits and re-learn fundamental diving from the very beginning. It was not without effort, blood, sweat nor tears to come this far, but I never could have done it without David. If one goes the extra mile to assure his students can enjoy diving safely with the best possible fundaments, then it is him. As a slow student I never felt any pressure, which I expected when doing ‘commercial’ diving courses. Instead I got additional pool sessions, dry sessions at David’s home and countless amounts of dives where I slowly but certain ‘mastered’ the sidemount basics, but only due to the perseverance, patience and brilliant teaching skills of David. What I’ve learned about commercial diving courses at the RAID divecenter ‘Outcast Explorers’ is that they’re not about your money at all…They’s all about passionated people that will upskill you and take your level up to a much higher standard, no matter the time or effort they have to invest to make you a better diver. And certainly they will make you a better diver, no matter if you learn fast or slow. In meantime I am a proud member of Outcast explorers, and a RAID sidemount diver. I met the nicest people who all share the same passion and pride. David is not only our instructor. He is a pioneer, a true explorer and our mentor, but also he is our friend, because it simply creates a bond due to the intensity of the course. Spending hours and hours together, mastering skills does that magic! And…I’ve learned now to enjoy diving so much more, isn’t that what it’s all about? 😄 "
" I did my Sidemount course with David from Outcast Explorers and WOW, what an eyeopener it was! For most Instructors it’s a moneyfactory, with David it’s all about quality and not quantity. David is not alone an instructor but also a mentor and a friend. He makes you feel calm in the water, explains everything very well, sometimes even 2 of 3 times 😊, has patience and really invest time in you to finetune the critical skills. Yesterday I finally finished my course and I’m so proud of it! Looking forward to the next and many courses that I will follow and have a blast of fundives with him! Thank you David and see you again very soon 😄! "
" I wanted to take the next step in my diving career and took the Sidemount Specialty course with David from Outcast Explorers. From the moment David and I met, I could tell David was highly passionate about Sidemount diving and from then on I knew that this course would push my limits. David has very high expectations from his students, but that is also his biggest strength. If you take a course with David from Outcast Explorers you know you will get the best possible training with an instructor who is passionate and dedicated to get the best out of you. "
" Because my girlfriend already had a license open water, I also wanted to learn how to dive. The passion for underwater life was there, but also the fear of diving. The latter was completely taken away by a training at Outcast! My instructor David explained everything well and did everything perfectly, if necessary 2 times! The fear disappears automatically and after a while it feels very comfortable under water. Have enjoyed it and will go with a peace of mind for the first dive abroad. Thanks again Outcast and especially David. "
" From the moment I got into the water with David, I felt safe and comfortable and I knew I was going to have an amazing introduction to diving and the underwater world. You quickly realise that Scuba Diving is not just a hobby, but an exciting way of life. Whilst teaching you, Davids enthusiasm and experience is infectious. This coupled with his unquestionable professionalism ( his credentials really do speak for themselves ) , makes David the best instructor you could ever wish for !!! He provides a fun, friendly and unforgettable experience whilst maintaining high standards of safety & excellence. To put it simply, learning from David is learning from the best. I would highly recommend him for all diving related activities and much more. "
" The sidemount course from OE is very extensive, you get to know everything about your material and build up some critical skills to have a nice and safe dive with eye on the environment. They teach you to bring the best out of you. " #Thanks O.E.#SM #RAID
" I started diving lessons for my vacation to Autralia to go diving in the Great Barrier Reef. David has adjusted the lessons to my personal progress. He quickly understood which tests I had easily mastered, so that we had more time with the more difficult exercises. Learning to dive in the pool of the club is definitely a plus. Since I have a job with irregular hours, it is very easy that there is always a swimming pool available. The open water lessons are a bit more difficult, but that is certainly a good exercise if, like me, you aim to go on vacation in clear water. I was very nervous when I went diving in a foreign country for the first time without my personal instructor. And it also seemed that all fellow divers had a lot more experience than me. But once under water it quickly became clear that compared to the more experienced divers it certainly did not work out badly. From that I can only decide one thing, David has made it possible for me to learn to dive correctly. Because after a few minutes under water I was completely relaxed and I could enjoy my dive. "
" I wanted to take this opportunity to thank my instructor David for the very complete sidemount course he gave me. I can recommand the RAID divecenter Outcast Explorers to everyone that is looking for a decent training or club! "
